「日本三大瀑布」である「那智の滝」「華厳ノ滝」「袋田の滝」の三名瀑のほか、落差日本一の滝として知られる「称名滝」も合わせてご紹介します！
那智の滝（なちのたき）は、落差133mで一段の滝としては落差日本一を誇ります。国の「名勝」に指定されているほか、『紀伊山地の霊場と参詣道』の一部として、「世界遺産」にも登録されています。青岸渡寺（せいがんとじ）の三重塔と那智の滝の組合せも絶景です。
華厳ノ滝（けごんのたき）は、奥日光・中禅寺湖の水が落差97mの断崖を一気に落下する壮大な滝で、名瀑が多い日光周辺の中でも際立つ存在です。華厳滝エレベーターで行ける観爆台から間近で見る滝つぼは迫力満点で、運がよければ特別天然記念物のニホンカモシカも見られます。
袋田の滝（ふくろだのたき）は、茨城県北部の奥久慈渓谷にある落差120m、幅73mの大瀑布で、大岩壁を四段に流れることから別名「四度の滝」とも呼ばれます。「袋田の滝 観瀑トンネル」が整備されており、この巨大な滝を様々な高度・角度から鑑賞できるようになっています。
称名滝（しょうみょうだき）は、立山連峰を源流とし、350mという日本一の落差を誇る四段構成の滝で、国の「名勝」および「天然記念物」に指定されており、もちろん「日本の滝百選」にも選ばれています。
雪解け水が多く流れ込む5月～6月にかけて、称名滝の右側にハンノキ滝が現れて、2つの滝が流れ落ち、V字型の大瀑布が見られます。
ハンノキ滝の落差は500mで、日本一の称名滝よりもさらに落差が大きいのですが、融雪期以外は存在していないため、「幻の日本一」の滝といえます。
